Ocean To Orbit

Designed in Australia, Made in Switzerland. Ocean To Orbit was founded by David Dewitt and Siddhartha Kazami, two car designers with a passion for watches and a profound love for design. Following a phone conversation in September 2020 about historical watches, the timepieces they owned or aspired to own, what they admired about them, and what they felt could be improved, they concluded that if they aimed to possess what they deemed a perfect watch, they must initiate their own brand. A few months later, Ocean to Orbit was born.

From the outset, they decided that every watch they designed and crafted would narrate a story. The discussion they had in September 2020 predominantly revolved around the timepieces adorned by the great explorers and pioneers of the early to mid-20th century—watches like the Omega CK2887, Rolex Oyster Perpetual, and the Smiths A409, all worn by members of the 1953 expedition to Mt. Everest. Their inaugural watch would embody the spirit of these remarkable historical timepieces—an everyday tool watch inspired by their legacy and designed and engineered to endure the rigorous conditions encountered during expeditions like those to Mt. Everest.

The LHOTSE collection will be available in a number of colours from Q2, 2024. Pictured here is the ‘Mission Green’ dial.

Shortly after conceptualising their inaugural watch, through Sid’s father, they were introduced to Purnima Shreshtha, the Nepali mountaineer and photo journalist who would evaluate their design and ultimately carry the prototype, named ‘LHOTSE,’ to the summit of Lhotse. Purnima had planned her ascent for May 2022, and on the 16th of that month, she successfully accomplished her goal, reaching the summit of Lhotse at 8:09 am, equipped with the prototype of their watch. Her narrative and journey—from a humble farming village to becoming one of the few Nepali women to summit all seven peaks above 8000m in Nepal—are undeniably inspirational.

For David and Sidd, Ocean to Orbit watches aren't just about telling time; they're about telling stories of courage and achievement. They embody the spirit of exploration and inspire new adventures.

A limited edition 'Watch Enthusiasts Melbourne' special dial will also be available.
